A few years ago I costume designed for Be Still the film. It’s finally making its debut! It was a challenging film to design for based on real historical people on what is officially called an Ultra-low budget. Most of the outfits were made by hand from scratch and what couldn’t be made was rented. Many of the hand made outfits needed to be mulitied (meaning making more than one of identical copies). All based on an era known for its voluminous skirts and corsets.
BE STILL premiers at Vancouver International Film Festival Oct.1-11 online and IN PERSON Oct. 6+8. This film is full of genius in its creative exploration of the genius and sadness behind Canadian surrealist photographer, Hannah Maynard, whom if you haven’t heard of, you want to.
